"All this while we've been selling our beautiful waves, sunsets, turtles, culture and nature conservation, and suddenly now we're seen to be selling gigolos? Such films are really harmful to our image," he said.

The official could not explain what charges the "beach boys" could face and admitted it would be hard to prove they were selling sex.

"We apprehended some suspects some time back but we let them off with a stern warning," Mr Tresna said.

"They will approach foreign female tourists, especially Japanese, on the beach, befriend them and the women will pay for their company and food during their stay here. Sex may be involved.

"It's like prostitution which is hard to prove because the foreign women may be willing partners, too."

Television pickups of web series have been an increasingly regular part of the landscape ever since Marshall Herskovitz’ Quarterlife saw its brief NBC run back in 2007. Since then a number of other series have originated online to later find TV offers come calling. Most of them however have had their share of recognizable TV actors already. Childrens Hospital starred Rob Corddry, Megan Mullally and David Wain (amongst others), during its single season online last year when it made the move to comedy cable network Adult Swim.

Web Therapy marks one first major single-brand sponsored web series to make the leap to television. Other sponsored web series In the Motherhood had Suave and Sprint backing the web series before its short-lived pickup by ABC as a midseason replacement.

The natural question is which series are on the short list for TV pickups now? My bet for the front runner would be Illeana Douglas’ star-heavy Easy to Assemble, which even scored the Streamy Award win for Best Ensemble Cast this year. With its own Season 3 in the works after getting the greenlight from its primary backer IKEA, it has both the track record and the fan support to make the move across platforms.

That’s not to say that web series should be making the move to TV, just that there will no doubt be some interest from development execs facing fewer pilots to choose from. The idea of the web as a proving ground for concepts and talent is catching on in Hollywood. The term “backdoor pilot” is something I’m hearing more often by TV folks looking at the more popular web series fare. The real test will come if a truly internet-bred series, lacking any well-established TV stars, can find success on a medium that still doesn’t know what to make of this web notoriety.

MTV’s pickup of The CollegeHumor Show took web stars like Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld in the living room, but the show so far doesn’t appear to be getting a second season. If Felicia Day’s popular gamer comedy The Guild, which is about to start shooting its fourth season, were to get a TV offer, it’s not clear what direction it would take. Day and her team, who have notoriously been proponents of retaining ownership of their creation, would probably not jump at skimpy offers. She did after all turn down over 20 offers for web sponsorship and distribution before teaming up with Microsoft and Sprint. With creative control in place online, a happy partner in Microsoft, and top billing as one of the most popular scripted web shows, it would have to be one heck of TV deal to give that up.

According to previous estimates, the World Cup would bring two billion pounds into the South African economy.

The task force`s secretary, Denny Indrayana, admitted at the Office of the Presidential Working Unit for Control and Development (UKP4) here on Monday the task force had received conflicting information about Sjahril`s whereabouts.

Susno Duadji - He said some reports said he was in Australia, others said he was in Singapore and still others said he was already in Jakarta.

"We are always coordinating with the police about his whereabouts which is in itself still a mystery. His clarification is really important and we hope we can get it soon," Denny said.

He said the task force had already coordinated with the police with regard to getting the first opportunity to question Sjahril when his whereabout was known later.

For the purpose, the task force`s chief, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, had already communicated with National Police chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri.

After questioning former National Police chief intelligence Susno Duadji for the second time on Monday, Denny said Susno had given the full exposure of the case so that the task force could understand in more detail about the way the syndicate has worked as well as the persons involved.

Susno however has asked the task force not to spread the information that he has given to the public to avoid disrupting the investigation process.

Denny said Susno had also suggested involving the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to deal with the case of Gayus Tambunan that revealed mafia-like practices in the National Police Headquarters.

He said the task force would take Susno`s suggestion for consideration seeing that KPK`s involvement in the joint teams would boost objectivity.

Susno said he did not know Sjahirl Johan`s whereabout.

Denny said the task force would again communicate with the National Police chief to study further the possibility of collecting information.

Clash of the Titans

Tukang Nggame Android - The plundering of ancient mythology continues. First Percy Jackson and now Clash of the Titans. The latter is notable for having been accompanied by one of the best trailers I’ve seen for a while. Cutting action shots to music gave the film a sense of epic gravitas, and also appealed to the testosterone-fuelled part of me. It’s a remake of a 1981 film, and apparently it’s faithful in its way. But I’ve not seen it and I don’t intend to. I’ve got a stack of DVDs to check out, including The Littlest Hobo, and a lot of accumulated chocolate to get through. Nostalgia can be fattening.

Clash of the Titans is a completely pointless film that turns out to have had the 3D effect slapped on in post production. At least this is my understanding of things. It was set to be released in March, but the director or some studio types took the decision to postpone the launch until early April so that they could retrospectively apply 3D, and milk even more money from the general public. Much of the time you could lift up your 3D glasses and never really see any appreciable difference between the two images, other than the fact that the non-polarised image was brighter and with more vivid colours, which is the case for every 3D film I’ve ever seen. So if you can, save the money and go and see the 2D version. You will be missing nothing.

Having said that, you could miss Clash of the Titans altogether and no one would think badly of you. The script is pointless, the action is only occasionally stimulating and the characters are shallow as a pool of kitten vomit. I hate to mention the recent Percy Jackson movie again, but despite criticising it in my review, I thought the Medusa scene with Uma Thurman was better than the equivalent effort in Clash of the Titans. The tongue is only occasionally in Sam Worthington’s cheek, which means the seriousness is often silly. But I fear that Sam Worthingtons tongue, cheek, head and body are made of antique mahogany. That’s me calling him wooden. He’s a nice bloke, as far as I can tell, but as an action star he is no Bruce Willis. Who I love, by the way.

Gore could have saved this movie. I’d urge the makers to look to the God of War series to see how Greek mythology should be tackled, but it’s too late for that now. And no one in Hollywood takes video games seriously anyway. Just look at the trailers for the forthcoming Prince of Persia movie.
